Key Moments of Learning

First Leadership Presentation

I hold this experience dear to my heart being that it was the first time I presented and facilitated a social change conversation. Dr. Pattisapu and I collaborated on making this presentation an interactive and informative conversation over zoom. They gave me quite of bit of freedom in this project which allowed me to put my leadership skills to the test.

CCI Research Project

During my fourth semester, I had the opportunity to intern with Ben Kirshner doing research for the Critical Civic Inquiry. Through this process, I was able to learn how to do qualitative analysis that lead to a presentation in order to report our findings. This experience opened my eyes to what doing research was like and how to adequately present and report findings. I learned a lot not only from Ben but also from everyone on the team. Everyone was very welcoming and participated in making our group feel like a safe and loving community.

MLS Peer Mentor

I took on the role as a peer mentor for MLS during my fourth semester and have been one ever since. Gaining this position has really helped me grow as a leader being that I get to facilitate conversations with students and teach mini-lessons. I have also gained a level of trust where students feel comfortable coming to me for advice or to talk about non-academic problems. I foster this community dearly because it fulfills and challenges me as a leader and as a huma.
